Background

Tusker Safari’s is owned and operated by Jan and Hettie Kleynhans. The safari company was established in 2000 with the sole purpose of offering affordable hunting trips without compromising on quality.

We cater for bow, rifle, handgun and black powder hunters. Friendliness and professionalism is of the utmost importance to both of them.

“Hunters arrive here as clients, but without exception leave here as friends. Many clients have returned multiple times to hunt with us.”

Tusker Safari’s base camp is in the western part of the Limpopo Province. The closest town to the lodge is called Lephalale.

The lodge has been approved by Nature Conservation to host foreign clients and is located on a 7000acre ranch. The whole lodge is run on solar energy.

Jan was born in 1969 and has been hunting full time since 2000. He has an open licence in the Limpopo province of South Africa, but has been hunting the whole of South Africa, as well as Zimbabwe. He has hunted all the South African game species himself or with clients.

He is a full member of SAHGCA (SA Hunters and Game Conservation Ass.), SCI (Safari Club International) and CPHCSA (Custodians of Professional Hunting and Conservation South Africa). He is also a Master Measurer for SCI and a measurer for Rowland Ward.

Tusker safaris has been included in several publications, like the African Hunting Gazette and Professional Hunters Association.

Hettie was born in 1972 and has been managing the lodge since 2007. She is responsible for catering amongst other things, so it is her main purpose to let the clients leave after gaining at least 5lb! She makes sure the rooms are neat and clean every day and that the washing is done on a daily basis.

Jan and Hettie has been married since 1993, and has 2 sons namely Andri and Klein-Jan. Andri is a full time professional hunter in a big game area currently, and Klein-Jan is also a professional hunter, so it definitely runs in the family.
